Mission
To connect our community to resources and programs that encourage lifelong learning and celebrate our collective history and culture.
History
The Lenox Library is located in a stately Greek Revival building which was designed by Captain Isaac Damon as the second Berkshire County Court House in 1815-1816, when Lenox was the Shire Town. The Lenox Library Association, incorporated in 1856, moved into the building in 1874, and the space has been operating as a library since that date. Added to the National Historic Register in 1973, the building was most recently renovated to its original grandeur in 2002-2004.
Services
The Lenox Library is a member of the CW MARS regional network. Patrons may borrow a large variety of materials, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, museum passes, and more, while taking advantage of streaming media, online databases, free Internet access, and Wi-Fi. An active, vibrant Youth Department, diverse program offerings, a robust music collection, and a rich selection of local history material are its hallmarks. The Lenox Library holds a very special place in the intellectual, cultural, and historical life of its community.
